List prof. K.Zielińskiego.

7 czerwca 2017

Szanowni rodacy polscy,

you are most proabably aware of the fact that the election of the ESMO Presidency for 2020 / 2021 has started on June 3. For more details, please

visit : http://www.esmo.org/Abo%E2%80%A6/How-We-Work/ESMO-Election-2020-2021

Having been nominated by the ESMO Nominating Committee to be one of two candidates for the election for the ESMO Presidency, I want to share my views on ESMO, the profession and your personal professional situation with you and to ask you for your trust and your vote.

I would want to draw your attention to the fact that if elected, I would the first ESMO President with a Polish birthplace (Wieliczka), roots and very strong background which led to my highly esteemed award as an Honorary Member of PTOK. That is why I all would very much ask you for your unanimous vote!

In order to enable you to know me better, I have produced a video which I invite you to watch under

https://youtu.be/tqdYU8oWNMk

In my program for the ESMO Presidency 2020 / 2021, I have chosen the words „Equality, Diversity and Dedicaton“ as my keywords which are reflected in

my program which you find attached. As you can see in the attachment below, EQUALITY is the most important point of my campaign. Please let me assure

you that once I will be ESMO President, I will do my best to make this word come true and turn it into action.

In my many years as president of CECOG (Central European Cooperative Oncology Group, www.cecog.org http://www.cecog.org/ ), I have learned how

important it is to have all interests represented in a society like ESMO including countries which have joined the EU at a relatively later stage of its development and listen to them and their needs!

Moreover, it is my strong belief that the ESMO President should be also a scientific leader which I have proved to be - please take a look at my CV in the second attachment below.

I, therefore, would want to ask you for your personal support, but also for your help in gathering votes from your colleagues and peers in order to make the program of „equality in ONE society“ come true. I am sure that together we can carry ESMO one step ahead, or perhaps even two or three.

Dziękuję Wam wszystkim za pomoc i poparcie w tych bardzo ważnych wyborach!

Bardzo serdecznie pozdrawiam, Krzysztof Zielinski

Points of Gravitation as ESMO President 2020/2021

In a world of rapid changes related to all aspects of life including oncology, I want to turn challenges posed to ESMO as a society and to its members into opportunities.

I want to summarize my endeavours as ESMO President under the aspect of EQUALITY including

  • - equal access to information on rapid developments in oncology for ESMO members worldwide
  • - equal participation of professions dealing with patients with cancer across oncology
  • - equal access to highly effective, innovative drugs for cancer patients
  • - equally fostering careers of all members irrespective of gender, age, race, ethnicity, religion, geographic location or sexual orientation
  • - equal opportunities for ESMO members within the ESMO leadership according to their qualification and participation in ESMO-led endeavours

I have summarized my working concept under the headings

  • ESMO Cares
  • ESMO Facilitates
  • ESMO Works

„ESMO Cares“

- for the maintenance and expansion of its important diversity, while ensuring equal access to an optimal education and knowledge distribution to ESMO members via direct or electronic means of access worldwide and across oncology professions.

- for cancer patients, state-of-the-art diagnosis and optimal treatment irrespective of their place of residence

- for its members including young as well as senior oncologists under the important aspect of an explosive development of knowledge and its direct application in the clinic adding to the heavy workload of oncologists worldwide

- for gender and discrimination issues including age, race, ethnicity, religion, geographic location or sexual orientation which all have to be identified and eliminated in ONE society of equal members

„ESMO Facilitates and Works“

- on the availability of drugs across Europe by generating awareness including the further development of the ESMO Magnitude of Clinical Benefit Scale and its application in daily clinical life, a strong interaction with EMA, and the generation of a pan-European understanding on the access of innovative drugs on the highest possible level,

- on electronic means for the transport of news, scientific communications including ESMO journals members, but also exchanges of views among members

- on lifelong learning for young oncologists by an expansion of fellowship options, but also for senior oncologists by reinforcement of their professional qualifications as well as further integration of oncologists from financially underprivileged regions from Europe and across the world

- on an increase of qualifications of young oncologists via the Leaders’ Generation Program as a „ticket“ to furthering their career within ESMO, and of senior oncologists via the support of their continuing professional qualification by ensuring and certifying their abilities in a rapidly changing world.

- on an outreach to oncologists worldwide via annual ESMO meetings in various parts of the world, but also within Europe in areas of restricted financial ressources.

I am proud that the Medical University of Vienna endorses my bid for the ESMO Presidency 2020 / 2021.
